Quick Thoughts on Media
Today:
The @Slate Cultural Gabfest - 8.22.10
- 20-Somethings & Premature Maturity Maturity (00:57)
- The Expendables Movie (13:25)
- Discussion on the Arcade Fire’s new album “The Suburbs” (25:37)
- As a recently post-20-something I could not have had a more dissimilar childhood than that described by the New York Times article. Ironically, I strongly identify with the more broad points of the discussion.
- Much like the discussion itself (and presumably the movie), who cares?
- The Slate panel nails it with their discussion on The Arcade Fire Fire’s new album. The Arcade Fire make unironic, sincere, and grandiose music for an audience of arms-crossed introverted hipsters. On “The Suburbs” The Arcade Fire shrewdly drive down both bedroom hipster streets and mainstream broadways. Some times it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
Just a few quick morning thoughts,
Dan
